Caran d'Ache Varius Metwood Mechanical Pencil 0.7mm
The body of the Metwood is made of rosewood, reinforced by a brass insert. Two bands encircle
the points where wood and metal meet. All pencils of this collection feature the distinctive "retro" steel clip. This, together
with all other metal parts, are silver-plated and covered with rhodium a rare metal more expensive than gold.
Rhodium never oxidizes and will always keep its brilliant silvery sheen.
Rosewood [cordia fragrantissima] comes from a Brazilian tree. The light-hued yellow and
brownish-pink veining gives this wood a particularly striking appearance. Its rather fine grain makes it hard and
strong but also difficult to work it can split if not carefully handled. Rosewood has long been used in cabinetmaking
and was particularly fashionable during the reign of Louis XVI in 18th-century France.
The Metwood writing instruments are presented in a beautiful rosewood gift box.
